Berlin Flat No 197

This holiday flat is located very close to Kurfürstendamm which is a great area for shopping with the Europa Centre, a whole street of high street shops and of course the world famous KaDeWe. The Kaiser-Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche as a memorial to the church which was bombed during the war (the remains of which also still stand on this square) is also well worth viewing. And in the square underneath there are many street artists and entertainers for you to enjoy. In the winter months, the Christmas Markets on this square are charming with the wooden stalls, the handicrafts and traditional German food being sold and the festive atmosphere that they offer.

Not far from Ku’damm you will also find the zoo where the famous polar bear cub, Knut, was born and lived and where 17,000 animals of over 1,500 different species can be seen. There is a walk through aviary where you can see the birds at close hand and an extensive aquarium which even houses a Komodo dragon.

The largest public park in Berlin, the Tiergarten is within walking distance of the flat. This is a great place for walks, particularly in the autumn when the reds, oranges and yellows of the leaves increase the beauty of the area. There are also plenty of grassy areas to relax and have a picnic in the summer. In the middle of the Tiergarten you will find the Siegessäule (Victory Column) with the magnificent golden statue of Victoria on top.

The holiday rental is also not far from Potsdamer Platz where there are many restaurants, shops, cinemas, theatres and other attractions to enjoy. The unusual architecture of the Sony-Centre is worth a closer look and the Potsdamer Platz Panaroma Point offers a 360º viewing platform to admire Berlin from above.

If you walk north from Potsdamer Platz you will also reach the Holocaust Memorial, Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag building which are all world famous landmarks. From the Brandenburg Gate you can stroll under the lime trees on the boulevard “Unter den Linden” until you reach Museumsinsel with many museums and the Berliner Dom.
